Boy Scouts – Troop/Pack 42 Paddle day

January 24th, 2010

Puna CC is not all about competition.  This past weekend we hosted the boy scouts troop/pack 42 in a fun introduction to the lifestyle and sport of paddling.  They learned the different parts of a canoe and some basic etiquette’s of our hawaiian culture.  The club is able to accomodate community members by the generosity of the U.S. Army Garrison’s donation of paddles to the club.  We wish Troop/Pack 42 luck at their next adventure camp out at Miloli’i.

Big Mahalo to the Novice A ladies, Leimomi, Nona, Trevella, Kahili, Tasha, & Coach Nick  for volunteering to make it happen!!

A hui hou!

Thank you all so much! This was the first experience in canoe paddling for most of us and it was fun. The scouts (and leaders) had a great time. My scout remembers only 1 part of the canoe (the ama) but he also remembers that we need to treat the canoe with respect. Thank you for sharing your mana’o.
