E komo mai (Welcome) to Puna Canoe Club's official website.
Puna, established in 1975, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the perpetuation of the sport of Hawaiian outrigger canoe racing. Our halau (clubhouse) is located on the shores of Hilo Bay beneath majestic Mauna Kea (White Mountain) on the Big Island, Hawaii. Puna is the dominant club in East Hawaii, is recognized and respected throughout the State of Hawaii as a competitive force, and regularly competes in national and international events.
As a member of Moku O Hawaii, the Big Island's outrigger canoe racing association, Puna participates in a regatta and long distance season that runs from May through October of each year. Puna's program covers all ages from keiki (children) to kupuna (seniors) and welcomes new members to its hui (club).
